Data Deletion

The short version

When something is deleted on UntreX, it is actually gone. Not hidden, not archived, not quietly kept "for safety." We consider a deletion incomplete unless it also removes the data from our database and any backups — and we hold ourselves to a 24-hour window to finish that job.

Deleting a single story

Deleting a story from your Timeline or Story Editor removes it from your account immediately, and it is permanently erased from our database and backups within 24 hours. After that window, it cannot be recovered — by you, by us, or by anyone else.

Deleting your account

Deleting your account from Settings removes your profile, your stories, and your account information. This is also completed within 24 hours, permanently. There is no extended "just in case" retention period beyond that.

Room data

Public Rooms: everything shared — messages, files, all of it — is automatically deleted within 24 hours of being posted, from every system, without exception. There is no way to retrieve it afterward, by anyone, including us.

Private Rooms: there is nothing to delete on our end, because there was never anything to store. Private Rooms run fully peer-to-peer with AES-256 end-to-end encryption, so the data only ever exists on the devices actually in the Room.

No footprint left behind

Once the deletion window closes, there's no residual copy sitting in a log, a cache, or a secondary system waiting to resurface later. If we ever change how backups or retention work in a way that affects this, we'll update this page and tell you directly — not bury it in a changelog.

Requesting deletion another way

If you can't access your account, email admin@untrex.in from the address associated with it and we'll verify and process the request manually, within the same 24-hour standard.
