Privacy Policy

Overview
This policy explains what UntreX collects, why, and what control you have over it — written in plain language, not legal boilerplate. If anything here is unclear, write to us at admin@untrex.in and we'll clarify or fix the wording.
The short version: your data is yours. We don’t train AI models on it, we don’t sell it, and we don’t hand it over to anyone without a legitimate, narrowly defined reason.
What we collect
Account information: your name, email address, and a password (stored as a secure hash, never in plain text).
Story content: whatever you choose to write, upload, or attach to a story — text, photos, videos, and location tags you add yourself.
Usage information: basic technical data like device type and browser, used only to keep the platform running and to fix bugs.
What we will never do with your data
We do not use your stories, messages, or Room content to train AI or machine learning models of any kind — ours or anyone else’s.
We do not sell your data to advertisers, data brokers, or any third party, for any reason.
We do not proactively share your data with any government or law enforcement agency. The only exception is when we are legally compelled by a valid court order — and even then, we disclose the minimum required and notify you where the law allows it.
Story privacy controls
Every story has its own visibility setting: private, friends, link-only, or public. Nothing you write becomes more visible than what you chose, without you changing it yourself. Public Discovery and Featured Public Stories only include stories their authors explicitly marked public.
Rooms: how privacy works differently here
Rooms are built around two very different guarantees, and this policy applies to both.
Public Rooms are visible to any user. Everything shared inside — messages, files, everything — is automatically and permanently deleted after 24 hours, including from our database and any backups. Nothing is archived. Nothing is kept "just in case."
Private Rooms only open with a shared link and passcode. They run fully peer-to-peer: data travels directly between the devices in the Room and is protected with AES-256 encryption end to end. It never touches our servers, which means we don’t have it to hand over, lose, or misuse — there is nothing on our side to access in the first place.
Storage and security
Connections between your device and UntreX are encrypted over HTTPS. Data at rest is stored on reputable cloud infrastructure with strict access controls. Private Room traffic is end-to-end encrypted with AES-256 and never stored by us at all. We treat security as a default, not an add-on — see our Security section on the homepage for more detail.
Deletion, and what "deleted" actually means
When you delete a story, a Room, or your account, it is removed from our active systems and database within 24 hours — not hidden, not archived, gone. Once that window passes, it cannot be recovered by you, by us, or by anyone else. See our Data Deletion page for the full detail on how this works.
Your rights and choices
You can access, edit, or delete your stories at any time from within the app. You can request an export of your data. You can delete your account entirely, permanently, whenever you choose.
Children's privacy
UntreX is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under that age. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll tell you directly before the change takes effect — not just quietly update a date at the top of the page.
